The house
As you will have gathered, we have done a lot of work on this property but that does not mean there is nothing left to do! There is still no central heating. All the pipework is laid but it needs a boiler and radiators. We have had quotes of around 17,000€ to do this work.
Then in 2019, the middle part of the garden wall fell into the river. As a property owner on the banks of the River Pique, you officially own the space above the river to the halfway point (if you want a balcony for example). You also own the bank and are responsible for it. There is no access to the garden except through the house, so no big machines. It needs some muscle and determination to repair.
The life
This is a morning business. In normal times, once breakfast has been served and cleared away, it's time to clean the rooms and that's it. The washing, drying and ironing is a continuous stream that carries over from one day to the next but it truly leaves plenty of time to enjoy the life here. Afternoons in the garden beside the river, reading, snoozing, resting.
The evenings might be spent at Lac de Gery in the lakeside restaurant or in the local cafe or just in the garden perhaps with a bbq. Guests normally go to the local restaurant for their evening meal so the evenings are your own and in the summer it is definitely outdoor living.
