About
Les Deux Rives
Our home
Chambre d'Hôtes since 2018
We bought the house in September 2017 and spent 6 months doing hard renovations. We installed 6 bathrooms by rearranging rooms. We joined to the mains waste, brought mains gas as far as the front gate and installed a phone line to join the village cable broadband. Then we added a kitchen to the basement, incorporated a dining/living room and cleared the whole garden. The house was decorated throughout and carpeted on 3 floors and 2 staircases. Phew!
We opened in April 2018, so it was a lot of very hard work but worth every aching muscle. We soon realised that by a certain amount of fluke, we had bought a house in a prime tourist location. We are in the middle of routes across the Pyrénées for walkers and cyclists, plus being 20 minutes from the Spanish border, we are 'en route.' We are fully booked throughout the summer and other school holidays and pretty busy the rest of the time. But there's still plenty of time to enjoy this little piece of heaven in the mountains.

Our Story
From Devon to France
Before moving to France I owned a pub in the middle of Devon and my brother ran nightclubs in London. Hmmm. Maybe not such a big leap for me, but certainly it was for him. But the time had come when we were both ready for a change in both our pace and quality of life. We chose France because of the weather, the different attitude to life balances, the cheese, wine and bread!! Plus we could afford to buy a house and renovate it without a mortgage!
We love France.
We love having proper seasons.
We love living somewhere where we can ski.
We love the fact that wine is a cheap as water.
We love brocantes and vide greniers.
We love fêtes and outdoor living all summer.
We love the local lakes and wonderful views.
